Pandal hopping on Mahasaptami at Kolkata, 2013

I went to see Pooja Pandals yesterday with some of my friends. Same Durga Maa everywhere but the idols were so different at many places. Like the previous years, this time too there were lots of creativity that I observed in many pandals.. some took the concept of Global warming, some were depicting historical monuments and some, palaces of the Great Kings of India. Some took beautiful concepts... from the villages and villagers' life. Kolkatans who are mostly used to a sedentary life style really like this Village concept and so it was looking so fresh and so enchanting. Use of artifacts was one of the USP of such pooja pandals. The periphery of such pandals was quite huge compared with others as these had to give real look of a village. The men, women, huts, wells, bulls, carts all were created by those artists with soils.. lovely so enchanting.. I saw people were so much mesmerized with such pandals, that they remained glued to them for quite a long time. No body wanted to leave that beautiful sight.
