Ten simple rules that I follow to live this life happily

Author- Manoj Kumar Abhimanyu

Today morning I was having anger deep inside on some momentary issues.  Negative emotions started flowing inside my heart all of a sudden. Even while going to office I returned half way. But then I tried to control myself. It took some time for me to come to terms but now I am feeling okay.  Well, this life is the biggest gift of God to us.  The more we would attract negative energy in our lives, the more we would hurt ourselves and remain sad. Some experiments I am trying in my life to relish its journey following these simple rules-

1. Always remain down to earth. Be humble to people of all ages.

2. Never think yourself as too knowledgeable or expert.  This way I could give myself a chance to know and learn newer things and newer ways to do existing ones.  Even the most unsuccessful persons have something good to offer, at least their experiences as lessons for us not to repeat those.

3. We can never be complete in all respects.  So, let us recognize our own strong points and work more on those rather than competing with others.  Let us not be a part of the rat race.

4. Let us never give up hope.  Remaining positive is the only necessity in life that keeps a person young and enthusiastic at all ages.

5. Always remember that we are human beings and so the feelings like enmity, jealousy, anger, greed,  fear etc. would come to our thoughts and actions.
Let us not carry those with us as our baggage.  Let us try to forget and forgive.  We need to develop art of controlling those emotions and if at all we are not able to control those instantly, we should at least give vent to those emotions by way of sharing those with some trusted people in our friends and family circle and not keeping those close to our chests. This way we can come out of those negative traits within a short duration.

I am in the habit of glorifying or cursing someone to extreme levels. I evoke my emotions at once full and final. Next day the person with whom I had a skirmish the previous day, you can find me normal with him today.

6. There is a child inside everyone irrespective of what age we are. Let us not allow this child in us to die.  I like to dance, I like to sing, I like to play with children, I like to have fun with others. I can laugh for long, I can sing at odd times. I have no hesitation to say others that yes, I am moody.  And I want to remain like that for rest of my life.

7. Sometimes we feel we are not lucky enough. We are not blessed as others have been.  When such thoughts capture our imagination, let us start thinking about them who are not blessed enough to get two square meals.  Let us consider those who are not able bodied like us but they still survive with so much of pains and difficulties in their lives.  Let us not forget despite all these miseries they are going through, they still smile.  Life has given us enough reasons to smile then why to cry?  Let us try to reinvent those simple reasons in our lives to smile.

8. Never feel yourself lonely. At least God is always there with us at all times.  Even when we feel no body cares for us, He cares.  So we survive all challenges in our lives till we are alive.  Every bad day comes to its end.

9. Love others unconditionally. This love is not a physical love that we usually think of.  It's in fact eternal love - love for nature, love for children, love for elders, love for fellow human beings, love for animals and birds, love for plants and trees, love for our environment, love for mother nature.

10. I have got nothing in my life that I can boast off. No bank balance, no FDs, no flat, no car. I feel everybody should be independent enough that if left alone or dumped by someone he trusted a lot, even then he should never feel lifeless. Fortunately I have few good friends, good sense of humor, love for others to which I want to make my strengths in my life. My life has not been so smooth so far.  The life ahead may be even more difficult for me but I have a hope that I would cross all hurdles in my life and sail this journey easily with God's grace.

Onset of Monsoon and havoc in north India - who is responsible?

It is just a three or four days of rains that has created havoc in the northern part of our country.. River Yamuna is flowing over the danger mark.  Many bridges, roads and homes have been destroyed by the floods in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.  Our politicians, specially the ruling combine at center, may I ask you why even after 66 years of independence you are sleeping so much, insensitive to all such major issues of addressing the problems of floods and famine.  Problem of flood is chiefly due to two reasons -
1. To block the riverbeds, encroaching them and building human settlements on them.  Who allows people to settle there?  It's the government's responsibility not to allow the human settlement or any encroachment over there.  And if any settlement or encroachment is there, they should be removed from there and alternative arrangements should be provided.  Now this is not so easy, government has to come on fire fighting mode for this and this project has to be taken on a priority basis and a joint effort should be made by center and state governments everywhere the riverbeds have been encroached on a large scale.
2. No emphasis on infrastructure developments such as constructing irrigation channels and Canals -  There are some states where, from rivers irrigation channels and canals have been made on a large scale and they are using the extra water flowing in the rivers due to heavy rains and floods for irrigation facilities and to provide drinking water to the people very efficiently.  But in most of the states, Central and state governments have not done much progress for this even after so many years of our independence.  The reason is very simple i.e. lack of will power and greed of mismanagement of funds in the name of flood and famine reliefs.
Friends, the dream project thought by then PM Sri Vajpayee for connecting all the major rivers in India was a revolutionary project which could have changed the fate of Indian people was dropped by the successive governments at Center because of the politics of opposing what the previous governments planned.  When I see other small economies in our neighborhood like Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore having world class infrastructure for which they are known for, be it roads, bridges, power, planned townships and many others, I feel our politicians have done only one job- to fill their pockets out of the taxpayer's money.  Public need to ask these politicians.. why is it so?  Let's ask our representatives and give them befitting reply in the elections.
Friends, do leave your comments.  If I write something, I try to give thoughts on them and it's not so easy.  My friends say I write long drafts which people don't find interesting because it takes too much of time to read.  I request my friends and readers that if I give this much of time to write, I take almost twenty minutes for a long draft like this, but to read this a reader would take hardly 5 minutes.  Please read and leave your comments.

India pushed several decades back by Congress misrule

In India, many of us think what's happening at the center or what the politicians are doing there, what we have to do with that. We are earning. We are getting our salary on time. We are able to borne our expenses as we get our Dearness allowance increased every quarter. I just want to bring in your notice, the present situation of Greece. Greece is an European nation and you know how rich the nations in Europe were only till some years ago. But now the National Radio and TV channels too have been stopped by the government over there. Now you can think with what economic crisis, the nation is passing through. Can you imagine the people's plight over there? This is a recent event and not only Greece some other nations in Europe are also having more and less similar fate.

On the other hand, despite our GDP growth plunging to almost lowest levels in few decades, rupee hovering at its lowest levels ever, industrial growth in negative territory, many Indian companies on the verge of insolvency, we all are just so complacent as if we are and we will remain unaffected by all these events. Yes we could have come out of such crisis. But where is the resolve, where is the leadership, where are the funds? The funds have already been galloped by the ruling class at the center and the states. Taxes are getting slowed down due to negative growth of industries. Unemployment is widely increasing because no new employment opportunities are coming. Now the persons working in government sectors or PSUs, they think they are having the backup of government and they will continue to get their salaries, allowances, pension and retirement benefits as a matter of their right and government has to provide it by any means. They are so relaxed about that. Open your eyes and look around Air India and Indian Airlines, many government owned and supported textile mills, transport companies and corporations. Many of the employees working under those mentioned lost their jobs or did not get their salary and other benefits for years... If the government would not have fund, you will not get salary. Even your job is not secure. Your retirement benefit is not secure. Wake up and vote for a strong development oriented nationalist party so that India can be brought out of this crisis that has been put by the present government of Congress who has pushed us decades back.

Media and all political parties dancing on one tune - Opposition to BJP

Most of the political parties want people to remain less educated and less liberal in their thoughts so that what ever they say, what ever they try to put in their minds does ultimately culminate in to votes for them without the public assessing the logic in to what they said, is really in favour of the people or is against them. But despite their best efforts to keep the people in mentally paralyzed state, it's the law of nature that with the time, evolution happens and so today we can see that people are more thoughtful, more liberal and more logical. They want to ask their representatives what they have done so far for the betterment of the people. It is not so easy this time and the times to come that political parties would be able to befool the majority... It's a wake up call for the news channels also because we are now getting deaf by listening to your one song - Opposition to BJP and in the process you always try to divert the attention of the public from Congress misrule, non-governance and free loot of the resources and funds.

Biggest defeat around for the Congress ever - but is opposition prepared to take its place?

There was a difference of votes of 2 % in the last parliamentary election between Congress and BJP. With the misrule and non-governance of Congress party at the center, it is inevitable that Congress would taste one of the biggest defeats ever in the next parliamentary elections provided the main opposition party BJP fights this election under the leadership of Modi and no infighting crops up there.

Why just to seek 2% of extra votes that made the difference between the two parties last time? Remember the time when Congress used to get majority in elections on its own. How was that possible? It was possible because public voted in favour of Congress in the expectation that what Congress leaders had made them to dream of, would come true to them under Congress governance. But even after 66 years, Congress did not realize their dreams. Now that their dreams are shattered, and they have also seen the result of the fractured mandate, after completion of a full circle, they now want to give chance to a strong political party having all India presence. Stage is set for BJP, but they have to come up with their own nationalist ideology before the public. They have to bring their visions clear for the nation. They have to work hard and have one voice from all the leaders without any ambiguity. They don't have to depend on untrustworthy allies. They need to move on their own in big states where they have their own presence. Show these regional parties where they stand. Now Congress's time has come to an end. What ever permutations and combinations Congress makes with other regional parties, those will fail miserably and public will vote those regional parties also out who will go with Congress.

BJP Vs others - who polarizes the people more?

When I hear the debate of the political leaders on news channels, I find one thing common in the undertone of the debates, some how or other this will come to center stage in those debates that Modi will polarize India.  Of course I am talking about the political parties other than BJP.  Many a times media is also responsible to fuel such a perception and at least trying to portray such an image of Modi.  I simply ask so far what Congress and other regional parties have done?   Did they not polarize votes in the name of castism - upper caste, lower caste, SC, ST, OBC and again in lower castes, Yadav Vs others and so on?  Is this not polarizing?  In fact it's much more dangerous. Society has been deeply fragmented and one caste has been made enemy to the other.  On one hand, people are fighting with each other in the name of castes and on the other hand, greedy, corrupt and unfaithful politicians are winning elections and looting the public money at the center and states, as is evident by series of scams unearthed in the last ten years of misrule of UPA government. And who does not know that Minorities have been the biggest chunk of vote banks and for whom mostly all political parties barring BJP go on to announce anything to any extent at least till the votes are not cast.

I have heard many speeches of Modi, where he has hardly mentioned much about Hindutava or Ram temple as against the popular belief and the public image created against him. I have often seen him talking about taking everybody from all sects, religions and regions together to build a strong nation.  He talks for the development and how the same model of development could be adopted in other states of India to make their people more prosperous and economically well off.  He often gives ideas how more jobs can be generated for creating more employment opportunities.  He talks about opening of more and more institutions where our youth's technical skills could be developed for they could be absorbed in industrial sectors.  He talks about using technologies in agriculture and other associated professions.  Once I also heard him talking about creating more toilets than temples.  It shows his concern towards health and hygiene of the people.  He talks about making India a strong nation in the eyes of others.  He has talked about the pain that he still feels for the unfortunate riots that followed the Godhra incident.

I feel that it's a gross injustice to a leader of such a high stature that the media and other parties for their political mileage have labelled him as a Chief Minister who fueled those riots at that time.  Recent court judgement has also given him clean chit on this issue but still the politicians have not yet stopped making such demeaning remarks on him.

In the last BJP rally at Patna, when several serial blasts were conducted by the IM terrorits, he could have backed off from the venue.  He was in the airport itself when he must have got the news that bomb blasts were happening at Gandhi Maidan, the venue of his speech.  Still he attended the rally and did not utter any hatred or violent speech.  He kept the cool and never mentioned any thing that may hurt sentiments of others. He persuaded the people who came to hear him in lakhs that they had to keep cool and they had to reach their homes safe, so they have to come out of the venue slowly and patiently so that no stampede happens. He controlled the crowd magnificently and kept his speech so appealing that even after the motive of this much of provocation by the terrorists, nothing untoward happened from the crowd's end.

Now I leave it on you to decide who polarizes India, Modi or others...?

Leaders who suddenly come alive during electioneering years - Would you vote for them?

Congress has ruled our country for more than 50 years out of the 66 years of Indian independence. There are certain parliamentary seats in UP where Gandhi family has traditionally won since then. But when I watch the news on TV that Mr. Rahul Gandhi went in his parliamentary constituency and were the chief guest in the opening ceremony of a Post Office there, my head goes down in shame, what progress have we done so far? Top leader of the Congress, Junior Gandhi has not done anything to provide even the basic amenities in his own parliamentary constituency so far even after winning that seat probably for the second or third time.. The same situation is there with other traditional seats of top congress leaders in UP. Junior Gandhi is often found missing from India on several crucial occasions when country remains in crisis, we have seen that in the past. Can Public give votes in favour of such a party whose leader wears Payjama Kurta only when he has to come and ask for votes just about one year before elections and to stake claim for another term? We can compare him with the Pakistani leaders who if are not in power remain in England for four years, and in the election year come back to ask for the votes from the public over there.
