India in 2050 : on course of becoming an economic superpower and alleviating poverty

Day before yesterday I was discussing with my friends how despite so much of progress we have failed to provide the living standard to majority of its people that it deserves. We are having abundant unemployment problem, farmer suicides, uneven distribution of wealth - in fact more than 50 percent of people are very poor, hardly literate and living a life like in a hell, government schools and hospitals are testimony to this as well. But still we have progressed, right! We have best of the resorts, hotels, private hospitals, rest rooms, beaches, cricket stadiums, richest sports club as BCCI, airports, golf courses, cruises, Tennis facilities, Gyms, Spas, Metros, world class Malls, Casinos and what not... We have reached to Mars and every fortnight we launch at least one satellite. We are the Indians who spend more than 6 Billion dollars as travelers just in one country USA leave alone others. But all these extravaganza are for the creamy sections of the society that excludes almost eighty percent of the population. Well friends the situation is really gloomy. Population is at the levels that can hardly be managed. I thought it will be a demographic dividend. But after around a decade soon I realized it can never be for a country like ours. Those who are at the top will never like to see those who are below to move up and challenge them. Howsoever we call ourselves civil, it's the rule of the jungle only that works, the mighty kills the weak. Then, are we nowhere? I am not sure but I saw another video last night in which it was shown what shape India will take in 2050. It showed, it will be biggest or second biggest economy in the world. More than eighty percent population will migrate to cities. Villages will turn into cities. Electricity will be abundant and will be available to everyone 24X7X365. All the cities will illuminate at night. There will be network of flyovers and bridges everywhere. More than 500 smart cities will be there. Diesel and Petrol run vehicles will disappear and the vehicles will run on clean energy. The climate will be healthier, cooler and greener. Pollution level will drop continually. There will be negligible unemployment and poverty. Well it sounds so soothing to the ears, isn't it! Yes we dream to achieve this! But there is no conviction inside looking at the situation prevailing at present. But still we Indians are very hopeful. Independence day is near. I wish all my friends, near and dear ones a very happy Independence day!

Self acclaimed intellectuals vs Bhakts

The problem with our intellectuals is they will find all sorts of problems in everything good or bad but will never come up with any sort of viable solution for those. It's very easy to criticize but very difficult to work. In a parliamentary democracy no public work can be rendered without criticism. Someone will always smell foul in each and every case. The biggest problem with the intellectuals today is how Modi ji is winning and gaining so much of public support despite all efforts being made to tarnish his image and leaving no stone unturned saying no work has been done in last three years. They will shout in public, on TV and elsewhere, "tell me even a single thing Modi has done" and will pat their own backs. But days after days, weeks after weeks, months after months, Modi ji is not just winning the elections but also the hearts of the public. At the same time he is taking tough decisions in the interest of the people and the economy. He is coming with long term sound strategies, many of them are for the first time and people are not used to those so there are all attempts to make people believe that nothing is being done or whatever is being done is just a waste. Well we the Bhakts keep on laughing on the intellectuals' parameters of judging governance. Democracy wins after all. Mind it democracy doesn't come without cost and yes, cost (Kashta/pain) to many..

India- a land devoured by capitalism, patriotism - no takers

We the Indians used Rs. 90000 crores on purchasing of mobile handsets in just one year that just went past. This is huge, may be the total GDP of a country. We are big, in fact very big.. we can't be a third world country heart tends to believe. But we have to accept the harsh reality on the other hand there are people who commit suicide because of hunger and debt, there are people who live under the huts near the stinking nallas or in a tent on either side of the roads in torn cloths and their children begging on roads bare footed knocking each and every car that stops near the red lights, there are children and teenagers who work as ragpickers from dawn to dusk to get something from the trashes we throw in the places where we would hardly like to even see and ever pass will put a hanky over our nose. Is it unfair when taxes are collected by the government to lessen this divide of the rich and the poor? There are several questions to answer, there are several problems that need solution? Every menace that we witness, isn't that related with the vast population? Isn't that related to the petty politics of division? Use of fake Chinese parts with stamps of made in Germany in our Dhanush, the final trial of which failed recently and the latest CAG reports that we don't have ammunition for more than 10 days whereas we ought to have at least sixty days of ammunition - where do we stand? Is there any patriotism left somewhere or that is left only with the Jawans who regularly die on war front or fighting with the terrorists? Many questions without answers.. sick consumeristic society that thinks of only me and my family with no care for anything else...

Shahrukh's secret of his fitness at fifty

Recently saw Sahrukh Khan answering a question put to him by an Indian soldier, how does he keep himself so young even at the age of 50. Shahrukh was candid to accept that he is 51 now. To keep him fit he has got some simple ways. He plays with his children almost daily for one to two hours that involves running. He himself was a good hockey player and he played even at zonal level before he sustained injuries and took the decision not to play it further. He jokingly added that when his children get older with whom he can no longer play, he makes sure another baby is born for him to play with. Well he further added that he has only two children.

Dogs are our best friends

Dogs do have heart. I have seen I had a pet at my home. For about 12 years it was with us. It couldn't see someone crying.. it will come and try to console the crying person. Best part of this pet is it always treats you as your family and will never ditch you.. pets are real stress busters.. they will make you laugh at times when they feel you are sad. They will hug you, they will kiss you and they will catch your attention, divert you from tensions of your life. Do have one if you didn't have this experience. Life will be easier..
